About Us
Civic-Link is a cross-border and cross-community schools and youth based project, which aims to empower young people to actively participate within their own communities and to engage positively with each other
The project focuses on
- equipping them with the skills, knowledge and motivation to address local issues and problems at policy level through participation in a practical community action project and on
- enabling them to understand other viewpoints and perspectives through collaborating with a partner group from a different community or jurisdiction, in addressing community issues.
- partner schools and youth groups work together both virtually and face to face.
- Civic-Link has been operating since 1999 and is an adaptation of the US Center for Civic Education’s Project Citizen. It has involved more than 200 schools and youth groups and is funded by the US Center for Civic Education, the Department of Education and Science, Republic of Ireland and the Department of Education Northern Ireland.
